Obituary for Gloria Harrell-Blount (Harrell)
Gloria Jean Harrell-Blount, was born September 9, 1946 in Tampa, Florida to the late James “Barney” Harrell and Mattie L. Harrell. Gloria departed this life on Friday, July 28, 2017 in Atlanta, Georgia.
Gloria grew up in the Ybor City neighborhood of Tampa, Florida. She attended the local schools of Hillsborough County, and graduated from Middleton High School in the Class of 1964. Gloria received Christ at an early age in New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, located in Tampa, under the pastorate of Reverend F. Willis.
Gloria was preceded in death by both parents; her oldest brother, James “Pookie” Harrell; niece, Angela T.R. Harrell; grandfather, Herbert Goins; and grandmother, Anna Harrell.
She leaves to mourn her passing, caretaker and only son, Tavaris Demitrius Blount (Natosuha); husband, Ronald Blount; grandchildren, Demetri R. Gilbert, D’jon R. Gilbert, Miaree K. York, and Ta’Lyric Channel; devoted brother, Ray Anthony Harrell Sr. (Linda J.); niece, LaKeishia R. Harrell-Sanford (David III); nephews, Michael A. Harrell Sr. (Lissandra), Ray A. Harrell Jr. (Rachael), and Andre Harrell; great-nieces, La’Neiya, Imari D. Campbell, Joslynn M., and Kaleah R.; great-nephews, Zamari A.M, David IV., and Michael A. Jr.; 1st-Cousins, James Harrell Sr. (Linda), Otis Harrell (Betty), Charles Harrell (Clara), Martha Harrell-Whyte, Mary Robertson (Edward), Catherine Campbell-Harrell (Benny Sr.), and Joseph Harrell; 2nd-Cousins, Mechelle Slater, Caprice Mango, Gayle Copeland, Donna Roberson, Krystal Harrell, Sabrina Harrell, Willie Reed, Clinton Harrell, Navado Harrell, James Harrell Jr., Evado Harrell, Terrance, and Benny Campbell Jr.; aunt, Carrie Levins; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 5th, 2017, 2:00 pm, at Herschel Thornton Mortuary 3346 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive SW Atlanta, Georgia 30331.
